Brian Neish is a British painter who lives and works in Derbyshire, England. He creates abstract paintings which explore time and experience by layering paint, colour and texture. With an increasingly international profile and exhibitions in London, Amsterdam and New York, Brian was looking for a new more contemporary visual identity. The deadline was very tight but we managed to create something simple and memorable.
The idea for the brand came through Brian’s style of work. He is fascinated by painted surfaces and layering and uses a large palette knife rather than fine brushes and thinned-out washed of colour. Paint is dragged and spread across the surface revealing and concealing older layers underneath: at times spilling over the painting’s edge to add an element fo chaos within the imposed formality of the depicted shapes, to celebrate the paint’s subliminal qualities and allow the resultant marks to take you where you will.
